Ball Machine
The ball machine on Court 8 is available for rental for a maximum of one hour per session. Make reservations by calling the Sports Desk at 858.509.9933. The fee is $12 per hour. Purchase a package of 10 sessions at the Tennis Office and receive two free rentals.
Tennis Events and Socials
There’s never a shortage of social tennis at PAC. We always have something planned for you, like “Wimbledon All White Night” (complete with strawberries and cream) or “Tennis Comedy Night” (tennis, dinner, and a comedy show). We love hosting special events, like our annual Mother’s/Father’s Day Socials plus group outings to watch major tournaments. And every Friday, our popular TGIF event guarantees you fun, mix-and-match tennis along with complimentary wine and cheese. Check our program calendar for more information.
Tournaments
PAC hosts and participates in tournaments throughout the year. Our annual breast cancer pro-am event brings the community together to raise money and awareness for a very important cause. We also host the annual “Rally for the Kids” tennis auction and fundraiser to benefit a local children’s charity.
Rating Systems (NTRP and SSV)
We have two systems to help members connect with other members of similar playing ability:
National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP)
NTRP is the official system for determining a player’s competitive skill level. It helps all players enjoy the game more fully by facilitating more compatible matches, group lessons, tournaments, and other Club programs.
NTRP is a self-rating system. It uses a number system that begins with 1 for beginners and increases in increments of 0.5 up to 8 for world-class level. Visit the USTA SoCal Web site for more information. (See “league tennis.”)
Serve, Stroke, and Volley (SSV)
The SSV rating is a standard unit of measure of tennis ability from 0 to 200.
It involves taking a 15-minute skills test. You will hit 40 balls and will be scored for control and power. In addition, you will be timed for mobility.
To determine your rating, members may schedule an appointment with one of our tennis pros. Call 858.509.1991 or send an e-mail to tennis@pacsandiego.com.
Restringing Service
Restring your racquet right here at the Club. For your convenience, racquets may be dropped off at The Shop for restringing and will be ready for pick up in 24 hours.
Department Contacts
You may contact the Tennis Department at 858.509.1991. Or send an e-mail to tennis@pacsandiego.com. To speak with our tennis director, please call 858.509.9933, ext. 265.
